Types of Facial Palsy : Facial palsy, also known as facial paralysis, refers to the loss of voluntary muscle control in the face due to damage to the facial nerve. There are several types of facial palsy, each with different causes and characteristics. Here are some common types: 1. Bell's Palsy : Cause : The exact cause is unclear, but it's believed to be related to viral infections, especially the herpes simplex virus. Inflammation and swelling of the facial nerve within the bony canal can lead to compression and paralysis of the nerve. Symptoms:  Sudden onset of facial weakness or paralysis on one side of the face. Other symptoms may include drooping of the mouth, difficulty closing the eye, and altered taste sensation.
